Kali just celebrated her 21st birthday, but she’s accomplished so much already. Since starting as a business office associate with Dental Depot in July of 2016, she’s already moved up to being a patient care coordinator and her ambitions don’t stop there.
She briefly attempted other industries—such as the 30 minutes she spent as a roller-skating-carhop for Sonic before she fell, sprained her ankle and spilled a tray of milkshakes on herself. With Dental Depot though, Kali’s found her stride.
In addition to explaining treatment options to patients, Kali serves on Dental Depot’s cultural committee, helps train her co-workers, and volunteers at Dental Depot sponsored events.
“I love all the charity events we get to do, and being a treatment coordinator you really get to change people’s lives and they come to rely on you,” Kali said. “When you show them the compassion they need, it really makes the difference.”
“The most challenging part is seeing a patient unable to afford treatment,” Kali continued. “You’ve done everything you can and they still can’t do anything about it. It makes me feel like I should be a rich person so I can pay for it. [It’s upsetting] because they took the time and made the effort to come here, and when they can’t [get treatment], it really upsets me. It makes me think, ‘should I have bought this purse or those boots?’ I could have helped with that.”
Kali won’t settle for helping just her patients though. Her goals include moving to the executive leadership office and helping to expand Dental Depot. Ideally, she’d like to be in a leadership position or work in accounting. From her previous job as a night auditor at Best Western, to the scholarship she earned to attend Nebraska’s York College for Architectural Engineering (which she declined for personal reasons), Kali has always had a head for numbers.
“I really like this company because I do feel like I can grow into it. I feel like I can do more with it,” said Kali.
Kali’s team at our South OKC office only had good things to say about her as well, all making a point of how willing she is to go above and beyond to really make an impact.
“Kali is super welcoming and understanding,” wrote Mari Delgado, office manager at South OKC. “I can always count on her. I look forward to many more years with this young lady as part of the Depot Family.”
Diane B., a patient account service representative, said, “She always has a positive attitude and is willing to help. She takes pride in her job. I have always enjoyed working with Kali and appreciate all that she does.”
Kali attributes her outstanding work ethic to her grandmother, who had a large role in raising her. She taught Kali the meaning of hard work, to value what she had and be grateful for the little things.
“My grandma never drove, so we’d walk everywhere. [Often] around this pond, and we would collect rocks. I still have that rock collection.” Kali said.
Much like Kali’s grandmother was the role model for her, Kali has stepped up to be a role model for her six-year-old sister, Katie.
Kali was already fifteen when their mother had Katie, but Kali has been there since day one to help care for her little sister. While Kali and her husband, Jason, don’t plan to have children for a few more years, they enjoy helping with Katie every chance they get. Jason also has a kid brother, and the couple’s siblings often play together.
“We’re trying to teach [Katie] to ride the bike without training wheels,” Kali said. “We take her out, we usually do all the holidays with her. We took her to Kansas with us so she could get out there and experience the world in a different way.”
While they will always be part of their sibling’s lives, Kali and Jason would like to start their own family one day. The couple married in March after eight years of friendship.
“My husband is so not secretive,” Kali laughed, “I knew he was going to propose to me, just not when. He gets cranky when he has to keep a secret. My favorite holiday is the 4th of July and so he proposed then. He comes walking up to me and you can just see this huge ring box in his pocket and he’s fumbling to get it out without me noticing it. I almost got hit by this firework I just lit [because] I turned around to see him on one knee and [the firework] went off!”
They recently purchased their first home in Moore where they live with their four dogs. The two large dogs—a husky named Pheena and a German Shepherd named Stitch—are Kali’s, while the two small dogs belong to Jason.
“[Jason] is the sensitive one in the relationship… He wanted a purse dog. His dad is the same way, they like purse dogs.” Kali said.
Despite their differences of opinions on dogs, they are both enthusiastic about building and restoring cars. Jason was trained as a mechanic, but Kali learned more intuitively.
“I [was] babysat by my grandpa,” Kali recalled. “He was always out in the garage working on the cars and he didn’t teach me, but I just learned by watching. I used to build drift cars. In one week, I put five different motors in the same car because they kept blowing up.”
Together, the couple has four cars they’ve restored: a 1997 Volvo 850, a 1985 Mazda RX7 with a rotary motor, a 2011 Volkswagen GTI and a 2001 Firebird. The couple regularly travels to attend car shows and compete when they get the chance.
Kali has gone through a lot, but has maintained her sense of humor. She works tirelessly to support her family at home and at the office. With hard work, focus, and dedication, Kali proves anyone can make the best of things.

Dental Depot is a locally owned and operated family company. As such, we believe that the incredible group of doctors, hygienists, assistants and staff that make up Dental Depot are more than their job titles; they’re members of our extended family. In our family, we like to recognize when someone goes above and beyond, living the Dental Depot values. This November, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Employee of the Month Kali Kight.
