Elizabeth Maloy is first and foremost, a mom. She’s also a valued member of our team at Dental Depot South OKC and the newest member to be named Employee of the Month.
Elizabeth’s world revolves around her son, Kenyon, an out-going eight-year-old.
“My kid is amazing,” she said. “I don’t know about other people’s kids, but my kid is the best.”
The duo is inseparable and love doing everything together, from watching their favorite superhero movies to taking spontaneous road-trips. They even eat lunch together, daily.
“We have lunch together every single day,” Elizabeth said. “I leave [the office] and go straight to his school and I’ll either pick him or grab something on my way. I hate when I miss it.”
And her work-family helps make it happen.
“My favorite thing about Depot is the people,” Elizabeth said. “You get people that come and go, and then you get that one moment where you get the right group of people that just click together. And everybody is communicative and hard-working and everybody has the same goal. You have the same support over [in ortho].”
Elizabeth has been at the South OKC office since January 2015 and has worked on both the orthodontic and general dentistry sides of the office. She’s a seasoned pro when it comes to helping patients and delivering consistent, compassionate care.
While Elizabeth has spent most of her time with Dental Depot as a business office associate (BOA), she recently became a patient care coordinator (PCC) for Dr. Craig Hine, a dentist new to the Dental Depot family.
“Every single one of our BOAs are either new, or new to that position and all of our PCCs, with the exception of me, are new,” Elizabeth explained. “So, if you look at the cameras you’ll see it’s just a circle around me with them asking questions.”
Whether she’s helping patients or her co-workers, Elizabeth’s hard work is really all for Kenyon. She says it’s important to her that she gives him the experiences she wishes she’d had as a child.
“I grew up really poor, so we never went on vacations,” Elizabeth said. “We’re excited to go back to Universal Studios this year. Last year we went to Orlando, and this year we’re going to California.”
And Kenyon isn’t the only one having fun. Elizabeth is a longtime fan of Harry Potter, so their trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was extra magical.
“I loved it. I’m definitely a Slytherin in my heart, but when I went to the Sorting Hat, I got Ravenclaw,” Elizabeth said with a smile. “My son and his dad are both Gryffindor so they shun me a lot.”
Their visit to Hogsmeade, a village nestled at the foot of Hogwarts castle, promised lasting memories when Kenyon tried his first Butterbeer – a cream soda with butter and caramel, served cold.
“He thought he was having real beer, and he told me, ‘Momma, I won’t tell my teachers I drank beer,’” Elizabeth said. “And I told him, ‘Honey, it’s not real beer. It’s just Butterbeer.’ But he said, ‘Momma, it’s okay, I won’t tell anyone.’”
Her family’s love of Harry Potter even went as far as to decorate their Christmas tree in the reds and golds of Gryffindor. Next year, Elizabeth said, you can expect the tree to be the greens and silvers of her own Harry Potter house.
When Elizabeth isn’t at work, she’s at home on the couch with Kenyon and her boyfriend, watching Netflix as a family. When a spontaneous trip comes up, she and Kenyon are always ready to go, so long as you bring their favorite snacks – Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, banana nut muffins and donut holes.
Elizabeth was nominated for Employee of the Month by her coworkers at Dental Depot South OKC.
“Thank you for being such a loving and kind-spirited individual. We are truly blessed with you. You keep our office alive with smiles and laughs. Congratulations!” Maria De Leon, business office associate
“Elizabeth is the most helpful and sweet co-worker. She always greets patients with a smile and is genuine with not only her patients but fellow coworkers. She is a joy to have in our office.” Kadie Dorety, dental hygiene assistant
“Elizabeth is always smiling and making everybody around her smile. Awesome and amazing person.” Nicole Matlock, dental assistant, October 2018 Employee of the Month.
Dental Depot is a locally owned and operated family company. As such, we believe that the incredible group of doctors, hygienists, assistants and staff that make up Dental Depot are more than their job titles; they’re members of our extended family. In our family, we like to recognize when someone goes above and beyond, living the Dental Depot values. This December, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Employee of the Month Elizabeth Maloy.
