Since our first expansion in 2001, Dental Depot has been building new locations across Oklahoma, bringing communities together with quality, affordable dentistry. Our latest office, Dental Depot Northwest Expressway, will be opening this fall.
Situated on the corner of NW 63rd St. and Northwest Expressway, this will be the largest Dental Depot built from the ground up without any additions. Featuring 19 total chairs – 12 general and 7 orthodontic – this 7,584 square foot office is nothing short of massive.
Meet the Team
Office openings are an exciting time for dentists and their teams to branch out and establish themselves as leaders in their community and in their field. It also means new patients and communities to serve while offering a change of pace for existing patients who choose to follow their provider.
We sat down with the doctors who will be moving to this new office to tell you a little more about what to expect from Dental Depot’s newest addition.
Leading the general team will be Dr. Josh Phillips, who recently celebrated his two-year anniversary with Dental Depot this July at the Midwest City office.
“I’m pumped! About six months ago Dr. Glenn [Ashmore] approached me about a couple of opportunities, different spots that he’d been thinking about – and he asked me if I would be interested in leading the team here,” Dr. Phillips said. “I said, ‘Absolutely.’”
While the Midwest City office will certainly miss Dr. Phillips and his team, Northwest Expressway presents a unique opportunity for him and his team to grow and expand their skill sets.
“For me, I’m excited about starting a practice from scratch with my own patient base. It’s an exciting opportunity for my assistants as well,” continued Dr. Phillips. “I’m excited about getting to work with Dr. Mark [McCollough], the orthodontist, and learning more from him. I’m ready to grow as a dentist,” Dr. Phillips said. “I think it’ll be a fun challenge.”
Dental Depot is constantly growing to meet patients’ needs, so when the decision came to incorporate orthodontic treatment into our offerings, orthodontic wings were added to four of our Oklahoma City locations.
However, Dental Depot Northwest Expressway will be the first office built specifically with orthodontics in mind, featuring a seven chair open bay and glass-walled consultation room to give new patients a safe space to ask questions and observe treatment.
Dr. Mark McCollough, the orthodontist at the Central OKC office, explains how this orthodontic-focused office came to be and what it will mean for his patients:
“When I joined Dental Depot about three years ago, the owners asked, ‘How can we make this [office] better?’ I said that incorporating an open bay allows us to be more functional and see more patients efficiently,” said Dr. McCollough. “The biggest thing is that all of our current locations – architecturally – have been designed for closed-bay facilities.
“Unlike in general dentistry, where you have to have closed rooms, in orthodontics, everybody is receiving the same care – that’s how we can [have an open bay]. This allows me, as the orthodontist, to see more people than what a general dentist could at one particular time,” said Dr. McCollough. “With high-end, well-trained orthodontic assistants – they’re capable of carrying out the orthodontic procedures after I review with the patient. Thus, allowing us to see more patients in a very efficient and quality manner.”
And while renovations were done to make the Central OKC office more ortho-friendly, the existing space wasn’t allowing Dr. McCollough and his team to treat patients as efficiently as they wanted.
“About two years ago I was approached by Dr. Glenn [Ashmore] and he asked how committed I was to Dental Depot, because [building an orthodontic office] was going to cost a pretty penny. He needed to know that I was going to stick around,” recalled Dr. McCollough. “We shook hands and I said, ‘I’ll be here. You make this open-bay and we’ll make it happen and I think you’ll be very happy with the outcome.’ And Dr. Glenn accepted that challenge and I accepted that commitment, and that’s where it all started to launch from.”
Dr. McCollough says that he and his team are very excited about the upcoming changes. Additionally, Northwest Expressway will offer more chairs than his current office, meaning more availability in scheduling for patients.
Dental Depot Northwest Expressway is scheduled to open towards the end of September. Stay connected with us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for office updates, behind-the-scenes photos and special events.
